So, yes. Yesterday afternoon, we made up on missing [livejournal.com profile] absinthe_dot_ca's welcome home party by going to meet him at Genghis Khan Mongolian Grill on Don Mills. Mongolian grills are fun (we first visited on in Columbus during Origins), although the sauce selection didn't seem to do much to the meat. Great fun, as always, was had by watching the cleaning of the grill, as seventy pounds of carbonized meat n' veg are scraped off the grill, sloughing off like burned flesh, which is appropriate.

On NYE Cynra and I ventured to the rough wastes of Hamilton, past the dust caked hells of the industrial section to visit [livejournal.com profile] pyat and [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage to ring in the new year. Good to see all in attendance. The children watched various kiddie related shows while the grown ups babbled on various silly items.

[livejournal.com profile] doc_mystery gave me a big surprise, handing me a copy of Heroic Worlds, which was a great thrill. The book, in spite of being slightly out of date, is a good view of the history of the industry right up until Magic made everything go horribly, horribly wrong.

[livejournal.com profile] etherlad had to beg off early; he seemed a bit worn down, but [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae was able to stay.

A gingerbread house was consumed, as was a bottle of Baby Duck (which I'd like to apologize to everyone for right now). Many tasty comestibles were eaten, and there was some tasty cherry brandy. The little bits weren't thrilled when the party broke up, but everyone got home. And now, a happy new year.

Cynra & I watched Runaway Bride and the last BSG episode, where the conflict between the characters bubbles at the same time as they sit under nukes, which makes me think this this just a story about the '80s.

I'm pleased I could help you out with tracking this down.

I'm also delighted with the Al-Qadim source-book you got for me at GenCon (gulp) so many months ago!
