A weekend in bittertown
Dec. 18th, 2006 03:40 pmRelatively quiet weekend. Cynra & I finished decorating the tree (whose branches cannot support my Bill n' Opus ornaments! Boourns!) and spent some time doing marital stuff, including taking Ra for his shots and sending family gifts in the mail to the East Coast In-Laws (which sounds like a not particularly threatining biker gang). Saturday night we went to visit the house of
absinthe_dot_ca for a holiday dinner and board games.
You know, the snobs on BGG are kind of right: Monsters Menace America really is kind of disappointing. I figure if we'd tried playing it with armed forces playing a slightly more offensive role, it would have been better. Ah, well, it was cheap. The game is pretty much a 'build up your monster for the final confrontation" at its heart.
We played several games of Tsuro, which is much more fun. I wonder how it would play with eight players, other than very fast.
Sunday was quiet. We didn't make it to the Browncoat party (which I did want to go to), but managed to make it to the Hobbystar Christmas party. As per tradition, we ate baby pandas, stuffed with shredded hundred dollar bills. Except for Aman, who's a vegetarian.
Nah, I fuck with you. It was steak. But he is a vegetarian, so he had the pasta.
The liquor flowed, and the appetizers came on platters (TBG loves nachos, amen). There was a gift session, with the playing cards picking method. I lost a bucket of gum, but got it back by trading. I did not get one of the cash prizes or gift certificates, fuckdamn.
After dinner (but before desert, as hoo doggie I was full) we skedaddled for home to watch Survivor: The finale! Good going, Asian guy.
