The one with Tori Spelling

The one from the Cthulhu Apperciation Society

Compare and contrast.

The HPLS production obviously is bears a massive amount of love and homage, and also manages to take the silent movie aesthetic and make it pretty slick. I'll have to see that film.

I'll probably have to see the other one too, but it's clearly a strictly contemporary enterprise riffing off the old master rather than an attempt at telling the story as he might have. It still looks pretty creepy, but in a much more Hollywood sort of way.

Bleaaaaah. No Tori. The silent one, however, rocks.

Excellent casting choice of Tori Spelling as a Deep One hybrid.

The 'silent movie' one is seriously cool. Especially the Harryhausen homagé R'lyeh sequence! ^____^

As for the other one... making a bunch of people standing around changing is difficult to make scary.

Man, the silent one makes me totally want to run a homebrew Call of Cthulhu game.

Unfortunately, all my players are on the other side of the Atlantic. Grr.
