Enjoyed day two of Thanks for Nuttin, and it was nice. Slept in, played Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and spent time w/ Cynra. We went to a Dr's appt and then over to the Ashley sale. [livejournal.com profile] redeem147, sorry, but the [secret items] were out. We picked up a few things, including a hook for grilling and a gift for our niece. I like hooks.

Now: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Sure, it suffer some from the Ultimateization of the thing. Captain America should START with wings on his head, and Thor with wings on his helmet. And when it gets down to it it's just a pretty button mashing game with slightly less strategy than Fluxx.

But it's enjoyable, though. Really, the amount of Marvel trivia in there made me giggle.

Here's a list of some things that will tell you if you will like the game:

A) You know what OHOTMU stands for.

B) You have ever consulted OHOTMU to settle a disagreement.

C) You like MODOK.

D) You found this joke funny.

The fact that you just mentioned MODOK is almost enough for me to go outthere and buy an XBOX for this Mo'Fo.

If you got that much money burning a hole in your pocket, I'd be more than happy to help you find places for it (notably, my pocketses.)

I don't think you understand the love some people feel for that oversized-head-in-a-floating-chair.

That's not love, that's codependency or something. Love would be borrowing/renting an Xbox and the game.

MODOK is a boss later on.

I have it on good authority.

MODOK is going to be fan-favourite big the way THE DEFENDERS are right now, man. My favourite MODOK quote is actually from the otherwise kind crappy Iron Man cartoon of the 90's. It's right here (http://www.geocities.com/marvel_terror/modok/modak5.wav).

How can anyone not love this stuff right here (http://www.geocities.com/marvel_terror/modok/modok.html)?

So, basically, it's like the last two "X-Men Legends" games, only this time they've packed in even MORE trivia.

I'm glad the "classic issues" levels are back; those were the best bits of XML and I was pissed they weren't in the sequel.

I dunno if I should ruin this...

...because the Winter Soldier stuff is very well written and very well drawn.

You won't believe who that character is.

That's the kind of talk that keeps Amazons from using their Purple Rays as weapons, isn't it?

It's well written, it's respectfully handled, and it's beautifully drawn. Your loss, man.

I see - so it's all about you saving face about a story you haven't read yet... :P

What if B**** never died? Apart from an annual in the late 80's where other characters who'd come back from apparent death made an appearance, the only one saying B**** was dead was Cap - and even then he called out his name as soon as he came to in Avengers #4.

Everyone comes back, eventually, Justin - U**** B**'s back, in a way, in Peter David's FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD SPIDER-MAN for cripes sake. You want they should kill both of them again now so you'd be right? That's kinda cold, isn't it? :P

Option B came true at the store in a violent eruption shortly after I started working at the comic store. There was a heated disagreement onto whether or not Captain America truly had superpowers, and I fetched a copy to quiet the din.

So, yeah, I'd probably dig the game.

Yup. It's just things like being able to survive in ice for 40 years and not getting tired can throw a person, if they want to believe he's got powers.
