Actually, I already have Vasquez - picked up in Singapore for about half what the Silver Snail would have charged me. But yeah, they're cool. :-)
As for the WizKids Aliens, I've heard through the grapevine that they will be "special" figures, only available if you buy a case or some such damn thing. So much for my idea of doing "Aliens vs Stormtroopers" by combining them with the Star Wars heroclicks.
Special order is fine, so long as I can get 'em without having to buy 270 boxes of other stuff first.
Hmm, Star Wars vs Aliens: Alien Queen vs AT-AT, anyone? Or better yet, what about Cthulhu vs AT-AT (they have this HUGE Cthulhu that all the dealers got, I'm trying to figure out how to get one without paying arm+leg)?
Or you could always recreate the Superman VS Aliens or Batman VS Predator comics (or the forthcoming Superman VS Aliens VS Batman VS Predator, the subtitle for which is "No matter who wins, the fans lose")
Yep, I'm getting silly, and I can't even use the excuse that it's late - it's only 10:30am here in Delhi. Speaking of which, I have confirmed that I get back into town from the Czech Republic at around noon on the day of your party, so we should be able to make it out to your Casa.
To answer my own comment, from the Wikipedia entry on Horrorclix:
"Horrorclix, Like HeroClix, uses the popular "buy it by the brick" configuration. A ClixBrick consists of 12 shrink-wrapped Boosters that include a special coupon for consumers who purchase Horrorclix at their local brick-and-mortar retailer. Anyone who sends in 12 UPC codes, the coupon, and the receipt from that one-time retail purchase will receive ... another coupon that allows the customer to purchase the collector's set associated with each release at a 25% discount."
(...)
"The ClixBrick exclusives included ... a coupon for the first collector's set "Aliens" and a coupon for the Great Cthulhu."
So I have to buy a "brick" of 12 booster boxes, then mail away the coupon to get my Aliens. Sigh. What am I going to do with that many Zombie Sorority Girls? (Rhetorical question, really.)
Like His Holiness said, you don't HAVE to buy the brick, but it's cheaper if you do. Mind you, you'll have just spent $90 0on a brick, and if you don't play that's a fair bit of cash.
Interestingly, I can't seem to find any way on the WizKids HorrorClix site to order the sets anyway. Do they sell/ship to Canada, or are they one of those "The US is the only market in the world" companies?
I was hoping to give my neighbourhood gaming shop my money, rather than the big corporations - I'm funny that way.
Thanks! Now I can buy a gazillion Aliens... The possibilities are endless (well, not really "endless", but certainly I can do more with a gazillion Aliens than without).
The collector sets are avaialble to peoeple who buy a Brick (12 boosters) first at a discount then, a month later, they open orders up to anyone who wants to buy them. The sets are usually 30 for the folks who bought a brick and 40 for those who didn't. The other advantage of buying a brick of the figures is that there is a chase figure that you can order for the cost of shipping that is only avaiable through that promotion. For example: I have purchased a brick of Heroclix: Supernova, and I am mailing in for the "Beyonder Doom" figure. I will be eniteled to early purhcase option on the next Collector's set, which is a Marvel 2099 set incuding Hulk, Dr. Doom, Punisher, Ghost Rider and 3 others.

Date: 2006-11-16 02:29 pm (UTC)I clicked through because I thought, "Cool! Aliens!". But no. Marines is what we got.
(OK, cruising around on the site behind your link reveals some alien "snapkits" toys. But still no Burke, Bishop, or Newt. 8P)

They do ship to Canada, but there have been shipping issues in the past. Hopefully that's been corrected.
