You know, I'm no expert, no rocket economist, but even I found it not quite that hard to grasp the economics of PDF publishing as this Timopod guy. Man, I'm surprised [livejournal.com profile] philreed didn't punch him in the face.

On top of that, his attitude comes across as, well, a wee bit sanctimonious.

Consider this work prefaced with one huge (sic): If you make a 100 page pdf, charge 10 dollars for it, I mean common, don't you even respect your own creativity that much?
I don't liek the idea of passing the saveing on to consumer, firswt thats a myth thats only used for sales gimmicks
secondly if your the only one (no middle man), shouldn't you charge a price worthy of your time.
I guess that the tough bit about working for yourself, short changing yourself

Since he doesn't use any specific examples, it's hard to really discuss anything with him. I doubt there are any people making a living or even a good side-income in the PDF business who are in the habit of regularly selling 100 pages of content for 2 bucks.

I don't think "sanctimonious" is a good way to describe the guy, because he'd never know what it means or how to spell it. I think "tool" is probably about the right speed.

Wedge. Every knows what a wedge is, after all! And only those who have assayed Grade 11 Physics realize that it's actually an Inclined Plane, the simplest of tools.

Either he's one of the most ignorant people I've ever come across on the Internet...or he works for a game company and feels threatened.

Somebody should explain the terms "printing" and "shipping cost" and "invoicing" to him.
