Pimp your Podcast
Nov. 1st, 2006 09:30 amBTW, now that I have an up to date iTunes version and a good machine, anyone care to pimp a podcast in my direction?
Your own, or one you just enjoy a lot.

Date: 2006-11-01 03:16 pm (UTC)I've never listened to his podcasts (or any podcasts, for that matter), but he's on my Friends List 'cause he's a friendly, geeky guy, so it might be entertaining.

Date: 2006-11-01 07:06 pm (UTC)Thanks to Monte for pointing me your way. The podcast I do with my girlfriend is at http://www.plusdrewminuskelly.com
We're just getting started, and I honestly have no feel for whether or not we're any good at it, but please feel free to check it out and give some feedback, positive or negative.
As far as other podcasts go, most of what I listen to is mainly chit-chat type shows. I don't really listen to many tech or music shows, because if I want tech or music advice, I'll just surf the net. That said, here's a short list of the podcasts I listen to on a regular basis:
http://www.dawnanddrew.com - probably the first couple of podcasting. They talk about themselves for 24 minutes a day. Pretty cool community over at their website.
http://www.thetwistedpickle.com - a dude in omaha, ne sits at his computer and talks about his family. The catch is that his wife doesn't know he does the show, and if she ever finds out, he could be in deep shit.
http://www.topofthepods.com - rob and job (two british guys) read off completely random top 10 lists and give their commentary on each one. Pretty entertaining.
http://www.gabberjaw.com - another couplecast. this one is a couple from chicago who talk about their daily lives and also discuss the headlines.
http://www.naughtykarate.com - yet another couplecast, but this one is just odd. Kyle and Jamie are the hosts, and they are probably two of the funniest podcasts I've ever heard. It takes awhile to get into, but Naughty Karate is one of my must listens.

Date: 2006-11-01 03:38 pm (UTC)• Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac
• Board Games with Scott (very silly, but Scott does a good visual presentation of german-style boardgames)
• Durham 3 (interesting format, sometimes a bit too "in-crowd-ish", but occasionally has interesting discussion of rolegames)
• Ebert & Roeper (skipping at the moment while Ebert is off recuperating, as Roeper is the irritating "bad cop" of the pair in my opinion)
• Have Games, Will Travel (Paul does some good reviews and interviews)
• Sons of Kryos (sometimes, again, a bit "in-crowd-ish", but generally very thoughtful talk about rolegaming)
• The Basketball Jones (from the T-dot, very very well produced bball cast)
• The Dice Tower (good survey of german-style boardgaming, but sometimes the manner and attittudes of the presenters are irritating)
• the show with zefrank (an interesting project that's recently been running out of steam)
• The Spiel (has some good features and talk about german-style boardgames, but they tend not to be too discriminating, or perhaps it's just that they have very different taste from mine?)
• Tiki Bar TV (what video podcasting is for; even if you don't make or drink mixed drinks; very well produced, well written, and at times deeply amusing in its silliness)

Pulp-style radio programs done in 2006. A little campy at times, but still very entertaining.

Date: 2006-11-02 03:35 am (UTC)The standard round table cast consists of:
- John Campea - owner of TMB
- Doug Nagy - Hamilton Comedian (language warning)
- Darren Conley - Linguistics Student
- Bruxy Cavey - Hippy Christian Minister and Author
Its a strange mix to see Doug, a crude language driven comedian athiest and Bruxy, Pastor of one of the Biggest Churches in Ontario at the same podcast.
I do a fair bit of writing for the Movie Blog, and may someday soon make an appearance of my own there.

And before you ask, no I don't have any urls, I get my podcast subscriptions directly from the iTunes Store (still free, they just allow you to browse a lot of podcasts and subscribe with a button push - but you knew all that, right?)
