Week in review
Oct. 27th, 2006 11:53 amWell, things went fairly well this week. Work continues to spin by at a pleasent pace.
Cynra has done some Halloween decorating about the house, but we still need actual gourds for carving. I sense a nighttime visit to the pumpkin patch. Or possibly a morning visit tomorrow, which means up before noon on Saturday, a fate reserved for the wretched in YHB's opinion.
The whole Tennesee Republican Ad story went over as well as could be hoped in
canpolitik, although way too much air was taken up by a pedantic asshole who takes great offense at calling a guy a pedo when he likes hot teen action. Oh, man, I wish I had the Internet Gun. The discussion here was fun, too, but in different ways.
Did some comic shopping at
papajoemambo's esteemed venue last night (I would also like to thank him for today's icon), on the way to game. Picked up a couple issues of 52 (man, they put Ambush Bug on the COVER, but he's in two pages at best), JLA # 2 and Nextwave #9, and arranged Cynra's Christmas gift.
Man. The cancellation of Nextwave is just proof the world is a horrid place. The book fit me like a sweater knit by my mom (my mom is a great knitter, btw, in case that simile is as bad as I think it is), and I never ever READ Not Brand Ecch. My sole exposure to Forbush Man was in the pages of Marvel Age. And I have no idea who Charlie America, Giant Sam and The Inedible Bulk are, but that in no way prevents me from feeling the pathos inherent in "Bulk has never had a girlfriend!"
I kind of hope they get a Heroclix Collector's Set.
Personally, I would pay cash money for the art on the last page. Just because Elsa Bloodstone's boobs are so awesome. Stuart Immonen, call me!
The new JLA, after a strong issue #0 and an interesting issue #1, has pretty much plummeted right off the interesting page. Oh, look, red, green & blue tornados. Lovely. And professor Ivo? No Amazo there? There's WAY too much Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman wankage, and not enough, you know, JLA fun. By this point, they should have all gotten together and fought Starro or something. SOMETHING. Give me an interstellar starfish!
Game went well. I thought for a while there that there might be some remittance in the horror, but thankfully that was not to be. The Roti was also delightful. Yummerlicious!
Anyway, today is taco day. I have brought in the last of the summer salsa. The half bottle that had been in my fridge had to be disposed of as it had begun to become carbonated. When tomato based foods are fizzy, it's apparently a bad thing.
