I guess he was just too red a tory for the Calgary school.

I love the bit about how it was the Ontario caucus idea. Of COURSE it was.

I've got my disagreements with the man, and it isn't my riding either. So there's two reasons for me to keep my own yap shut right there.

Still, the whole debacle strikes me as ennobling to Mr. Turner in its way. He's got more of my respect now than ever as a result of this. I hope he sticks around and runs again as an independent...and wins.

Oh, he's something of a loon (flat tax? "Infrastructure bonds"?), but dagnabbit, the people of Halton voted for a purple Tory, and now it's the dull grey of 'independance'.

If he really wants to screw it to the Tories, he should join the Green Party.

A sitting member of the Greeen Party of Canada would force the inclusion of the Greens in the next Federal debate, and allow Elizabeth May to fire some stinging shots at Harper and his mean-spirited government on a national stage.

Small government? Probably not. They're more about revenue-neutral changes to government fund-raising (read - taxation) - going towards green taxation. It'd be a serious change to the way government thinks and works, though. Probably smaller military and a different role. We'll see - I didn't go to their convention (instead choosing to attend a more orange one two weeks later), so I'm not sure what has happened with the policy.
