I think that's the case. I honestly think the whole concept is alien to a lot of people. Ah, where is Dean Martin when we need him?

The whole thing is meant to be a very mean send up. Did they think there's be some kind of honorary memorial to the guy on Comedy Central?

The Shatner roast was a whole new level in vicious. And I loved nearly every minute of it (Kevin Pollak didn't get nearly enough time, I thought.)

You know, there was a time--back in the Dean Martin era--where Roasts were funny, and could poke fun of someone without resorting to profanity and jokes that are 99% high-scool level sexual sniggering.

I miss that.

Well, the Dean Martin roasts were done for network TV, so they were by necessity 'toned down'.

It's not a type of humour that appeals to everyone, really.
