I read this blog about Indie RPGs after reading through Robin's Laws, and the punchline of the first post ("just because you’re having fun gaming, doesn’t mean you’re doing it correctly"> is sort of the antithesis of robin_d_laws' thesis ("as long as you're having fun, you're doing it right").

The blog is fun to read, in any case.

Definitely parody, but he's parodying some of the guys on the Forge, who can be real gamer snobs.

Now, I'm definitely a proponent of trying out indie games... but either that guy's running a mean-spirited parody of indie gamer rhetoric (which can indeed be annoyingly elitist at times) or he needs a good kick in the face.

Oh, it doesn't seem that mean spirited. I mean, satire requires things be turned up a notch, and you have to go pretty far to beat Ron "Vampire causes brain damage" Edwards.

I found Ron to be a very friendly, down-to-earth guy who came off way more like a jovial Chicago Bears fan excited about the upcoming game ... but for RPGs, than as the messiah (or at least the lodestone) of gaming elitism.

It was kind of refreshing, really, because he certainly has been known to get up on the pulpit a time or two when it comes to the written word.
