Okay, it's a quiet day, so I thought I'd put to the gathered masses: Which Aliens character is the most quotable.

Think of it as a combination of quantity and quality. Does "they mostly come out at night. Mostly" trump "Game over, man!" AND "Is this gonna be a stand up fight, sir, or just another bug hunt?"

Newt gets the love, because we live in an area with bugs, and "they mostly come out at night. Mostly" gets a lot of use around here.

Can't believe you left out Hicks!

"MARINES, WE ARE LEAVING!!!" is the quintessential "OMG we're totally outnumbered and outgunned and need to regroup" Halo/Doom quote in this household. :)

Hicks got folded into the 'other' category because his memorable dialogue (that bit, and the gun course) were both very traditional action movie dialogue.

Despite my vote, I still think "They can BILL me!" is a classic line.

It seems to me that when the scriptwriters were sitting in their development meetings, they had a stack of index cards. On the index cards they would write tag lines. They took care to ensure that every main character in the movie had at least one index card. Then they had the Hudson Hat. Any line they came up with which they thought was cool, but not easily ascribable to another character, they threw in to the Hudson Hat.

Hudson may be a whiney little bitch-boy in the movie, but he really does have the majority of the quotable lines - sometimes in conjunction with other characters, like the "Have you ever been mistaken for a man?" "No, have you?" exchange with Vasquez early in the movie. And some not-so-verbal stuff, like the knife trick - unless you count "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" as a quote.....

So, for sheer quantity, I had to vote for him. Of course, Burke's "Maybe we could build a campfire, sing a few songs" is a classic - on a side note, it took me a couple of years to not throw things every time Paul Reiser came on screen in anything, due to his portrayal of Burke. Now I just throw things because it's Paul Reiser, so I guess that's an improvement, right?

I'm sorry but "Maybe we should put her in charge!" is the best quote in the movie, Hudson wins for that alone.
