Aug. 16th, 2006 05:02 pmI wish I played the Fooseball.
Two high school football players steal a deer decoy, post it in the middle of the road, and watch people swerve to avoid it. Two men are injured (one suffering brain damage) when they swerve to avoid the decoy.
The two teens are sentenced to juvenile hall, but not utnil after the football season. Football builds character, you see.
They must pay fines and restitution, perform community service and write a 500-word essay titled "Why I should think before I act."
An essay. Cripple two guys, one maybe for life, and you get to write an essay.
Okay, no one ever gets to complain about the young offenders act ever, again, ever.

Date: 2006-08-16 11:34 pm (UTC)It's not worthy punishment of the crime, either. A few years ago, whilst dealing with my earlier driving-related legal problems, I had to sit in court, waiting for my turn, and got to hear a few kids read their essays aloud to the judge. You could always tell the ones they wrote on their own, as opposed to who got help from the parents. ;)
