canpolitik posted a screed on organ donation. Now, aside from the standard stupidities in the comments section, this line in the original post amused me greatly:
I'd be as pissed off as the next person if I were to find out that I've been automatically signed up for organ donation without my consent.
The amusing point? By the time organ donation happens, you're dead, so I sincerely doubt what happens to your mortal remains is any great concern by that point.

And some people believe that the state of their body after death may affect their condition then, so... *shrug* Not mine to say whether it's a big concern for them or not.

Date: 2006-08-09 04:49 pm (UTC)It's really just a shift of awareness, which I suspect this guy doesn't have in spades. I assume the most transferrable organs will be out of people young enough to be aware of that kind of thing and how to opt out.
I can really see a series of informative animated commercials about organ donation letting everyone know how to opt out.
