No, seriously. A PSA starring Godzilla.

And Godzilla Junior. Very nice, very retro.

That was awe-inspiring. I remember that movie.

Yep, I went back and re-read all the stuff I'd missed on my friends list when I got back. I didn't comment on things that had been a day or three ago ... I know I'm spotty on catching comments made in mhy back-log.

I'm pretty sure you've already related (most) of the story to me.

The film in question is the relatively weak Son of Godzilla, however the little terror appears again in Destroy All Monsters, a wonderful* movie.

*Wonderful, if you love monster movies.

Pshaw. Chupacabras are for little girly-men to fear.

An elective credit in Film Studies, or too much exposure to cinema as a child? Nothing wrecks a good movie like cinema, I've found.

Well, snobbery, at any rate. I own a whole shelf of Criterions, but I also own a bootleg four-disc set of "Godzilla: Final Wars"; I don't even understand Japanese.

I've actually seen that. Hilarious.

Heh...finally, Minilla is used well (okay, and the bit at the very end of "Final Wars" was awesome.)

"Final Wars" is the final Godzilla film of the current series ("Millenium" or "X" if you're a Japanese hipster.) There won't be any Godzilla films for another five to ten years; Toho, unlike some other movie studios (*cough"PARAMOUNT!*cough*), knows enough to let a field lie fallow occasionally. It's from the director of Versus and is essentially Japanese camp distilled down to its purest essence, really the only way of describing it.

The X series is pretty interesting because each movie is a different take on Gojira. The best straight-ahead monster movie of the bunch is "Godzilla GMK: Monsters All-Out Attack", which despite the title is a fairly serious flick and probably one of the best of the entire franchise.
