From an RPG.net post about D&D
Jun. 2nd, 2006 10:50 pmOn starting levels in D&D, the lowest I've ever seen it at is 3. Technically, one game started at level 1, but that was where everyone had the half-dragon template for free.

And if we made it to 3rd level, we celebrated and sacrificed a virgin (until we realised that we were killing off most of the players, so we switched over to sacrificing jocks.)
