Keeping Geekery in the family
May. 29th, 2006 01:20 pmOkay, a couple days ago
umario was googling Mater Bitter's maiden name and stumbled across this Star Trek RPG character. In a state of confusion, he emailed me to see if it was, in fact, mine, because the odds of someone randomly creating a character named after our grandfather are kinda slim.
It was, in fact, one of my old Trek characters from Owen's ST game in Ottawa. I use relatives on my mother's side as PC names on occasion; one of our cousins was the source for a Vampire PC.
Owen ran a good ST game; I think I'd moved out of Ottawa by the time the time he ran the borg fight; we were actually in an alternate SW universe where we helped the resistance, run by Senator Palpatine and Governor Tarkin, fight the evil of Empress Mon Mothma and the Vader family and prevent them from using Romulan stealth technology on the Peace Enforcers. It was fun. Then we came through a wormhole and Klingons destroyed the Romulans pursuing us.
What? It was a Star Trek RPG game. My captain was a cat person. I'm lucky that's the strangest thing that ever happend to me.

Date: 2006-05-29 11:24 pm (UTC)I think there's some law that Star Trek RPGs invariably either end up crossing over with Star Wars, Doctor Who or X-men.
No, wait, the latter was a comic book. Sorry.
