Okay, some bits I'm ambivalent about, but, really, it was a good decade. And now, someone's gone to the trouble of cataloguing YouTube videos of '80s music videos.

Man. It would appear we DON'T have to take our clothes off.

This, of course is the greatest video ever.

Heh.

Edit: This version of the A Ha video is better.

Not sure where the images are from ... FF, maybe?

I really liked the Family Guy version of "Take On Me" with Chris...

Correct on both counts. I love 80s videos, I also miss the days when MTV and then VH-1 actually played videos. Back then I hardly ever listened to the radio.

Nod to this. Remember when cable channels like Much Music used to be about, oh I dunno, music?

Indeed. I had forgotten how good that old A Ha video was.

Boy, did those bring back some HS memories!

You may enjoy this as well, but for different reasons:

P.S. What was great about 80s music and music videos is that ANYONE could put one out ANYWHERE in the world. You could be listening to artists from Germany or Austraila on the top 20 charts, as equally from UK or Ireland or the US and even Canada.

The drawback to all that, however is that you didn't even have to know how to sing (Milli Vanilli anyone?).

How on Earth could you miss the Best video of all time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56QSkTnTTDg)?

I wouldn't mind seeing more, new Spitting Image.

Other than this, U2, and the Habs winning the cup in '86, the 80's sucked.

Those are great videos. I have to agree with you about the Ah Ha one Justin,
BUT, you forgot a video which has a triumvirate of greatness,
i.e. Vincent Price, Zombies, and my first exposure to cat's eye contacts which burned into my soul the desperate need to have a pair. (Which I now do btw)

That video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4-IlviV8Ao

By contrast, here's what I was listening to in the eighties:

Good Gawd! Look at that dress shimmy and shake! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7t7cGwN7_0)

Who are these guys? How do we sell their albums? What kind of music do they do, exactly? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ6vUMQPGYY)

I yearn for a really massive linen suit. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3NKdW4A6YI)
