New series Heroes: Drama about a group of people who discover they have superhuman powers

This show is going to be on NBC on Mondays. It's entirely reasonable it'll fall within the Sturgeon threshold, but it might just manage to be watchable. Which would be another reason to skip RAW is Mediocre! On Monday nights.

It will be interesting to see a network Superhero piece that isn't based on an existing comic property; hopefully it will be better than, say, Black Scorpion or Nightman. They kind of have to be, actually

I get a good feeling about the show from what I've heard about it. Good cast, some good early reviews. I'm hoping it'll do well and not suck.

Here's something I found elsewhere... warning, there are some spoilers for the characters and their abilities, but also cast (and I don't know all of them, but I like the ones I do recognize anyway):

The epic drama "Heroes" chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. As a total eclipse casts it shadow across the globe, viewers follow a genetics professor (Sendhil Ramamurthy, "Blind Guy Driving") in India whose father's disappearance leads him to uncover a secret theory -- there are people with super powers living among us.

* A young dreamer (Milo Ventimiglia, "The Bedford Diaries") tries to convince his politician brother (Adrian Pasdar, "Judging Amy") that he can fly.
* A high school cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere, "Ice Princess") learns that she is totally indestructible.
* A Las Vegas stripper (Ali Larter, "Final Destination"), struggling to make ends meet to support her young son (Noah Gray-Cabey, "My Wife & Kids"), uncovers that her mirror image has a secret.
* A prison inmate (Leonard Roberts, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") mysteriously finds himself waking up outside of his cell.
* A gifted artist (Santiago Cabrera, "Empire"), whose drug addiction is destroying his life and the relationship with his girlfriend (Tawny Cypress, "Third Watch"), can paint the future.
* A down-on-his-luck beat cop (Greg Grunberg, "Alias") can hear people's thoughts, including the secrets of a captured terrorist.
* In Japan, a young man (Masi Oka, "Scrubs") develops a way to stop time through sheer will power.

Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world. "Heroes" is executive produced by creator/writer Tim Kring ("Crossing Jordan), Dennis Hammer ("Crossing Jordan") and David Semel ("House"), who also directed the pilot. The drama is from NBC Universal Television Studio.

Wow, no kidding!

Greg Grunberg is just awesome whom I really liked on Alias, so will be fun to see him.
Ali Larter (whom I will always know as the hot but evil blonde on Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back) as a superpowered stripper? AWEsome.
Leonard Roberts, good ol' Forrest from the Initiative? Good to see him back in the geek-seat.
Hayden Panettiere is a damn cutie, and thankfully legally old enough for me to say that (well, almost, she's 18 in August I believe :) ) And come on, a totally indestructible cheerleader? That has SO much potential :)

My only complaint (and this strikes me as odd, cause I am so NOT PC normally) is the excessive use of stereotypes. Two of the main female characters? A stripper and a cheerleader. The black guy? An inmate. I really hope those are just coincidences and not by design because either way - unfortunate.

I will definitely have to remember to tune in.

The only good thing I can say about Nightman is that it was ny first introduction to Jayne Heitmeyer (the female lead).

I loved that show.

Sure, they were all cheap knock-offs of the X-men, more or less...

and sure, if I watched it now, I'd prolly wonder what the hell I was smoking back then...

Or Mantis. Don't forget Mantis. (Or, maybe, do forget Mantis, if you see what I mean...)

One of the first regular gigs for Gina Torres, so, there's a good reason to remember it...
