You know, I'm a deep down comics fanboy. I've got a feeling of fear in my gut after seeing the X3 clip.

But Superman Returns looks like it may be juuuust right.

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. At first, the whimiscally evil Luthor was a speedbump to my ideal of the physically imposing, seriously evil version I've come to accept as "the real one," but after Hackman's portrayal, how can you ever go back to a straight villain? I'm glad he's darker here, but I hope he's not too cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

Well, if the film follows the the trailer, he's CC&C for 90% of the time. But it's that other 10% where he begins to show his mad scientist roots (which are admittedly the only roots he's got to show).
