Well, the weekend turned out as expected. We went to dinner and gaming at George's place yesterday, after I went for a massage & Cynra got her dental done (God Bless comprehensive medical).

Always good to let [livejournal.com profile] ketronic do what she does. She only uses SOME of her elbows.

We had burgers & salads w/ Sangria before cracking open Star Munchkin. I began to get very, very tired around eleven, so Cynra & I made it past the wonderfully organized non-QEW (the wonders of TO's traffic organization) and back to Milton in just under two hours.

We did not play Doom, although George & I took in the wonders of the expansion. I think there's something seriously wrong with me that I get so very, very excited over a box-full of plastic toys and some instructions.

The CTF map strikes me as strange; the main point of CTF is that you don't KNOW how the other team's gonna come in. Will they flank, will they send in everyone, will they hold back and then come for you when they've eliminated you? On a board-game, you know how they're doing it.

Today was yard work and Baycon. I met up with James at Baycon where I gave people info about GX. Rackham seems eager to attend, and Looney Labs is eager to come once they complete their move to Hamilton. Fantasy Flight also looks possible. Also made possible contact for GoHs for '07.

Got to kibbitz a bit with [livejournal.com profile] doc_mystery and his charming wife and little girl. It is painfully true that we hadn't seen each other since GX last year, which must be corrected. I still have to run Pulp Zombies for him & his group.

Also bumped into another guy I know from my Strat club days, so that makes two I saw this weekend. If I'd bumped into [livejournal.com profile] diaperman it would have been a trifecta.

Managed to talk to [livejournal.com profile] pyat for a while after he got home in the afternoon; didn't get a chance to drop by, as I had to return to Casa Bitter after doing some shopping for aforementioned yardwork. Mowed most of the back forty.

Dinner was chicken skewers, rice & salad, so that's hopefully all healthy n' stuff.

While I'm here: Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] kearsley. Huzzah!

It was really nice seeing you today too, Justin. We really do have to do some kind of a gaming night together, be it Pulp Zombies or something else light and fun. And I'm sorry about having been the one to break the 'news' I shared with you today.

I didn't do much other than look around a bit today (our little one was getting a little boared). But I did get to try a quick demo of the Flipquest cooperative dungeon card game that seemed to be okay. http://www3.sympatico.ca/shadowcraft/

I also didn't get much today at Baycon; no RPGs struck my fancy and I have most of the boardgames I wanted that the dealers carried today. I did get some some CoC minis to double for pulp minis if I ever run a game. And some dice and a plexiglass dice tower for either myself or my little one to play with.

I didn't realize they were moving to Hamilton. That could be very keen.

Hey, I think this is the first con in a LONG time that we didn't bump into each other!
The attendence numbers looked a bit disappointing. I know Rose was wishing there were more.
I demo'd Shadowfist, pulled in 3 enthusiastic players so that was worth the trip. Got to meet Jamie Chambers (the author of the excellent Serenity RPG) but sadly he did not end up running a game Sat night for me to jump in on. Seemed like a nice guy.
So we played the Warcraft (NOT World of Warcraft - it's all so confusing) boardgame instead during our Sat evening slot. It was fun, but I'm not about to rush out and buy it or anything. I got to eliminate the 10 yr old that was playing, and hey, when is THAT not satisfying! No, seriously, he was soooo asking for it!
Picked up the Serenity GM Screen (got the rulebook from a friend for my birthday) and the very amusing Spaceship Zero RPG for $20.

Oh, and hey, not that you asked any of that or anything :)

I'm sure I'll see you at our next mutual con and the streak can continue.

Of course the fact that I was only there Friday & Saturday and you were only there Sunday just MAY have handicapped our ability to cross paths this time around...
