Weekend

Well, Friday was work (as much fun as always, but at least the drive in was quick). Saturday was scheduled for some stuff, but that was ended by a trifecta of crises on the part of the attendees (family emergency, work emergency, personal health emergency). Hope everyone is well, btw.

After that adjustment, Cynra decided it would be time to do yardwork. Yay! I mean, Kill me now! We went to Rona to pick up some stuff, then to the Superstore for some other items. Thankfully, she decided today would be a better day for cutting of sod, raking of leaves, spreading of fertilizer and laying of soil. I headed over to [livejournal.com profile] mr_weasel's work to hang for a couple hours. En route, I picked up the last of the known Star Wars minis (none of my F/L/Etc/CS have any in remaining in stock).

Afterwards, Cynra & I were planning to head downtown to catch the Toronto showing of Sidekick: the Movie. Our travel time would have been enough if there hadn't been an accident en route that delayed us by half an hour. Since that would have meant that by the time we got to downtown TO, found parking, and even if there were tickets available ( I recall the BubbaHoTep line with something unlike fondness) we would have been late, we decided to call it off.

Instead, we decided to go see Thank you for Smoking; of course, we'd planned on using a free admission ticket, which TYFS is ineligible for since it's a new film (i.e. Special Engagement).

So we ditched that and went to get a sausage from the newest restaurant in the area, So Sage. Holy Crap, those were tasty. Cynra got a rosemary & garlic, and I got Curry Chicken. They had 10 varieties (plus seafood, and I don't know if the seafood are sausages or just lobster tails in a bun) and 30 toppings (five kinds of mustard, baby!). The fries were good; we got them in a chip cut, topped with garlic and basil. Damn tasty. The sausages are a bit much (we both had some to bring home), but good for a meal.

We dragged ourselves home and decided to stop at the Rogers Video near us. We got Good Night And Good Luck and Sky High (guess who picked what; go on, I dare ya).

Sky high was actually very, very good. Why are neither of the big two capable of doing a good, gentle comic superhero series (not written by Dan Slott)? Not only was there no anal rape, but they skipped mind alteration completely. Apparently Disney wants to do a sequel and a TV show. That would be good.

It further makes me dread the ever approaching X-Men 3.

Haven't watched Good Night & Good Luck yet.

Today was spent doing the yard work. Raking, composting, fertilizing and digging of dirt. Now, we have a turkey in the oven, and will get dinner together after Cynra is done watching last night's BSG.

Good Night and Good Luck is a really good movie.

The all black and white tone really sets the mood.

I used the keywords "So Sage", restaurant, toronto, and the shopintoronto result was in there. I'd never heard of shopintoronto.com before then.

I figured since the weather was nice, direct seeding was the way to go (esp. with things that, if started indoors, were supposed to have been dealt with two months ago, or which don't like transplanting). One fat little monster is having a smorgasbord, as a result. *itchy trigger finger* I hates that varmint.

If you like SkyHigh, you might want to check out Oni Presses' Sidekicks (http://www.onipress.com/graphicnovels/gn.php?id=76).

You need to read :

- RUNAWAYS
- YOUNG AVENGERS

There's two - and no Slott to be seen in either.
