It sounds plausible. Waaaay back in 1999, when I worked at Apple, Bungie made the first public announcement of Halo. At the time, the game came across as a combination first person shooter/real time strategy game. You basically started on one part of the Halo with a few marines, and from there could do anything you wanted - hunt down and destroy Covenant bases, explore Halo's ruins, build up you base, and so on.
I was vaguely disappointed in Halo when I played it and that game didn't work that way.
Oh, are you kidding? It's Microsoft's lone in-house franchise. They're probably rushing to get it ready for the day the PS3 comes out. Of course, no matter how pretty the graphics, it's still just another FPS...
We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I'm not saying it's not FUN, mind you. The few times I've played it I've enjoyed it. But I didn't walk away hooked or astounded with how great the game was.
For my money, there's still nothing like Duke Nukem or the tragically rare Shadow Warrior. I miss having taunts mapped to F1 through F12. "You're an inspiration for birth control!"
