See, I would've said Nick Fury, but then, I remembered there was that tv movie with Nick in it, and you might recall that The Hoff played Nick, and that just means that Nick's really a pussy, if a dickwad like The Hoff can portray him.

James Bond did have Timothy Dalton portray him, and that kinda weakened his power rating, but with the strong portrayals by Sean and Pierce, and even the ok job done by Roger, there's really no contest.

James is the shizzle, yo.

How is this even up for debate? Bond all the way. Let's face it, Bond could take Doom. Bond could probably take on Kang and come out without much more than his hair ruffled.

Now, I have to disgree - Doom could take Bond just as easily as Bond taking Doom. Doom's got magic and other mojo that JB isn't used to dealing with. JB could seriously fuck up Doom's plans and stuff like that, but in a one-on-one, I'd have to go with the good Doctor D.

I gotta say, the movies were howlers, but Dalton's portrayal was remarkably close to the hardened, misanthropic killer Fleming originally wrote. With some support from writers and directors, Dalton could totally boost Bond's power rating.

Less said about Lazenby, though...

If the Broccolis couldn't kill Bond, I don't think Nick Fury stands much of a chance. Ultimate Fury is "played" by Samuel L., who, while still the baddest m*****f***** in the room, has been in The Man and Formula 51 to balance out his Jules-fu.

He's resourceful, I'll grant you, and he runs S.H.I.E.L.D., but that just means Bond gets operational support beyond his own bad self. I think I gotta hand it to Mr. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang here.

Well, for me the attempt to PC things by making Dalton's Bond not so misogynistic/womanizing really fucked with things.

Ah, I kinda liked the Lazenby movie. Maybe it was b/c of the ending... *shrugs*

I loved the Lazenby movie. Opposite of the Dalton affair, with a strong script and villain, suitably supervillainous plot, and meaningful (and painful!) love story, but a hollow centre in Lazenby.

Oh, yeah, definitely - Lazenby wasn't the most charismatic (did I just say that with a straight face?) actor... but the story made him seem cooler, I guess.

Well and Lazenby also had Diana Rigg - none of the other Bonds got that.

I think Dalton's Bond is vastly under-rated as well. The first parts of Living Daylights really are a good film.

I doubt Bond is dumb enough to confront Doom directly. He'd undermine him from within and then attack when Doom is weakest.

Ha ha. Die Nick Fury! Or should I say Nick Furry!

Mr. Fury would be less distacted by silly things like Martinis, girls and whether the crease in his tuxedo paints looked just so.

Advantage Fury. He was, after all, head of the Howling Commandos.

I think that anyone who started off as a comics fan is gonna say Fury has it over Bond. Vice-versa Bond fans.

All I need to say is this:

- Flying aircraft carriers
- Life Model Decoy robots that are so passable as their source person that they begin to think they are them - like a cool Robert Ludlum "deep-cover" story
- Flying cars
- Jetpacks in more than one episode
- Bad guys who could be your next door neighbour in a mask.
- OTHER bad guys who are disgruntled MENSA graduatesm with body surgery and a bad attitude.

...this is not mentioning the fact that eachof those evil organisations is headed by an ex-Nai who's had a grudge against the lead caharcter since they punched them in the face in WWII.

Fury might not beat Bond, because Bond MUST win in everything he's in (its in his contract), but Fury & Co. are 3 million times COOLER than Bond.

(EVEN when they're drawn by George Tuska - and that's going a ways).

Lazenby might not have been, and Connery would have had Bridgitte Bardot if the Broccolis hadn't cheaped out and gone for Lazenby.

Cry for what might have been Connery's Bond marrying Brigitte Bardot after he handed Telly Savalas as Blofeld his ass...

Now *that*'s a Bond movie - shame it didn't happen.

Nah, Fury just isn't as cool as Bond. If he were, he'd score more often. As it is, nobody who smokes that many cigars and is that cranky has gotten any for at least two years. I might even push that up to five in Fury's case.

By a razor-thin margin, my man, a razor-thin margin.

It's my being a total Bond geek that put it over the top. :-)

Well, I don't follow the man's sex life. But life on the helicarrier seems kinda lonely. Unless he's bi.

Do a "-Back Mountain" on THAT one, if you dare! :-)

If you can count the Hasselhof Fury, I can count the Ultimate Fury, in all his Samuel Jackson glory.

Fury wins.
