Drowning my Sorrows
Jan. 29th, 2006 07:26 pmSo, yah. Picked up a few comics (She Hulk#4, ASM 528 & Plastic Man 20).
Plas was just hilarious. "Sivana blasting Billy full of holes would have been bad enough. Bad Enough got worse when Sivana invited Dr. Light over to do what Dr. Light does to victims now. Like that's Light's new power."
She Hulk #4 was interesting, and was a bit of an eye opener for me. I have, for some time, had grievances with the way The Hulk is generally portrayed. After 9/11, we've seen what the body count associated with that kind of damage is. Millar's Ultimates was only too happy to exult in that sort of thing.
But, somewhere recently, I read something on a blog about accepting the conventions, embracing the madness, as it were. Bruce Banner, deep down, wouldn't want anyone to get hurt. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he did.
I guess I just realized that that's true. I have to trust that the creators do, too. If I can believe in a gamma powered creature that can leap 25 miles at a time, I can believe he always does it in a straight line. That they always know where he's going to land, and that they can get everyone out in time. And I think I can do that.
Picked up a Universe booster, and got Princess Leia, Rebel Hero as well as a Viper Droid. Where the heck are those things from? It's neat, that's for sure. Got an Armour Wars booster, and, as is my luck, pulled the worst possible Unique. Feh.
