Cynra is watching the Golden Globes with enthusiasm. Now, admittedly, this is the part of the broadcast where things start to get interesting, as the guests have been drinking for two hours straight, but still, awards shows make me shiver.

Yeah, an Emmy. It may have gotten a GG, but I really despise that awards show, other than the "someone will get hammered and say something stupid by the end" factor.

The fake Hollywood Foreign Press annoys me. I saw a documentary on them. They're a big scam.

Oh, yeah, it's a huge scam. Isn't it like 12 guys sitting in a room somewhere going "Let's put on an awards show!" And somehow they can influence the academy and shit.

More than that ... but most of them aren't even real journalists ... and to add insult to injury, they actually keep out many legitimate foreign journalists.

It's mainly just a bunch of foreigners who want to schmooze with celebrities once a year. Hosting the Golden Globes gives you a lot of scmoozing power.

Not to mention I'll bet there's a big fat paycheck for the broadcast rights/ad revenues for the show.

Yeah, but since the Golden Globes works as a non-profit organization, the members really don't see the cash. I can't remember what it's mostly used for ... but as I remember the documentary, the general members weren't really profiting in that regard.

Hmmm. I figure they must get some scratch somehow, although just getting a gift basket would be nice.

Still, yeah, I'm not impressed with what I know of the organization.
