I need to book a hotel room in your fair towne for NYE. Can anyone recommend someplace A) affordable and B) nice?

Much depends on what's available, obviously (NYE can be tricky), but you don't have a lot of options. Holiday Inn on, um... George Street, I think? is closest to downtown and to M's, IIRC, but you'll be driving, I assume, so there's also the Comfort Inn/Best Western/chain thingie on Lansdowne. They will also likely be noisy that night.

There are motels all around the perimeter (highway 7, Chemong Road, mostly) none of which seem too bad. There's a number of B&Bs in town (bbcanada.com has decent listings) and out of town (farms and such).

Really, "affordable and nice" is kind of variable... me, I liked the farm we stayed at, but you might want more amenities.

We're gonna crash at the Holiday Inn. Really, considering how much use we'll get out of the room, it seems a bit of a waste, but it'll be nice.

The one that the Peterborough RPG con had an arrangement with looked nice, and cheap. It had fireplaces in every room.

Yeah, the suites place looks nice, but we wanted to get a room quick, before they all booked up.

There's a Holiday Inn on George, close to us. Other than that, there's the Peterborough Inna and Suites nearby at (705)876-6665.

That's a good idea. The other side is awfully close to the main drag. Plus, the river side is pretty.

Peterborough Inn and Suites, I think it's called. George Street, near Charlotte. V. nice. I think that's the one pyat is referring to. Close to the best restaurants and everything else.

The pool at the Holiday Inn you can swin inside and out even in winter, its cool. You'll be so close, but thank fully not that close. :-P
