They're located in Egypt. Cool. I'm partially tempted to pick up an issue, but I've seen too many Egyptian spy movies in my day.

I was thinking it would be more like the industry in the '50s, with a large volume of titles and a wide variety of genres (well, wider than NA's mainstream market).

What's going to be really interesting is as the regimes in the Middle East loosen up and the filmmaking and comics REALLY cut loose. Mark my words, when the Middle East loosens up, the horror movies coming out of there are going to be bulldozers.
