Nov. 11th, 2005 05:25 pmAn interesting article on Infinite Crisis & CoIE. This guy is sorta an anti-Badass, in terms of his experience.
I had a moment of weakness last night; en route to game I stopped by Dragon Lady (
papajoemambo was hard at work) and picked up Infinte Crisis #s 1 & 2(as well as the next issue in The Other, a Spider Story spanning 3 books). They were certainly interesting.
The wrapup of #2 is that the Earth 2 Superman, last seen in The Kingdom #2, has returned to the DCU with a mission. The universe has grown corrupt and foul (which is amusing, because didn't this guy drop saboteurs into volcanos?) and he's decided it's time to reboot AGAIN, this time with the core planet being Earth 2.
Which, really, is amusing, because as someone pointed out, that's sort of a supervillain esque plan, eh? Change the universe for the better?
Of course, the problem is, from a meta level, you gotta believe that all the boy and girls in comics-reader-land are standing up and cheering saying "fuck, yeah." Well, I am, anyway. I've found that the DCU has been unrelentingly morose (and, dude, I like the Ultimates, so I do have a tolerance for that). Hell, what kind of world are we living in when Wonder Woman is killin' guys, Batman is going past paranoid to just nuts, and Lex Luthor gets into the White House?
Okay, that last one is a bad example.
But, really. I know I'll enjoy watching this story evolve.
Game was intersting last night; we played normal humans (I thought it was just an alternate thing, maybe a playtest of something from a WoD sourcebook or characters who get to see things from the other side of the Mage game), but by halfway it was clear to the thickest of players (i.e. me) that it was some alternate aspect of our PCs. Possibly something after the climactic fight that would have followed the end of the last session. My PC got to sack beat another PC in any case. He had it coming.
