So, yes. Very upset that I seem to be the only one who hasn't received his copy of A Game of Thrones yet. Curse you, GoO! I just know that UPS is gonna fuck me when I get it, too. Dammit.

I guess I'm not as wrathful as y'all, as for some reason I enjoyed the episode, even though it was a flashback of my least favourite character. I presume much of what we've seen will make sense once we've seen the next episode, which details the events of season 1 from the pov of the tailaways.

One hypothesis: we now know the Others grabbed the children (both in exposition and in the trailer for next week) from the tailaways post-haste. For some reason, they left the lostaways kids mostly alone; they tried to snag Claire before she delivered, but they never tried to get Walt until he was off the island, perhaps proof of his Franklin Richards-esque superness

They may not have tried anything because of the presence of firepower on the Lostaways beach (the initial gun, plus the silver briefcase of joy), or it may have just been more convenient to attack the tail section. Since they seem to be going for children as recruitment material (and, once again, the teddy bear on a strap? Creepy), and we know there appear to have been at least a couple kids in the back, that may have been a better allocation of their resources.

The 'purgatory' theory got an interesting boost after last night, as someone pointed out that Shannon was killed immediately after she managed to get Sayeed to lie to her about staying with her after they leave the island (and immediately after they both ignore teleWalt's advice to be quiet).

And let's talk about that: Sayeed, you were on your way across the pacific, having been a mole for the CIA in order to get the location of your old girlfriend, and suddenly you're pledging your undying adoration for the first piece of bimbo tail that puts out and then IMMEDIATELY lays a guilt trip on you? Sheesh.

Was hoping for something more between Locke & Charlie. Charlie seems to have redirected his junkyness to his paternal instinct. "I need-d-d-d my baaaaaaaab-b-b-byyy fix NOW! GIMME THE BABY!"

Jack was visible for a split second in the flashback, pretty much confirming that the Mr. Rutherford who died in the season premiere was Shannon's dad. Her step-mom, btw? A whole bunch of bicycle.

It's also come to my attention that Child's Play allows you to get toys for Sick Kids hospital here in TO.

I know that this year we've all gotten to know how vital they are, so does anyone want to try any sort of fundraiser? Or would you all just prefer to donate individually?

I thought the exact same thing at the time. Dude, you've been with this chick for a couple of weeks. What happened to the love of your life who you've been chasing around the world trying to locate? The dude is obviously fickle.

Yeah, I caught the nanosecond glimpse of Jack in the flashback. Was weird not having Jack, Kate or Hurley in the episode.

Shannon's grown on me as a character. She's turned out to be a lot more complex than a simple Daddy's Girl (which is how the media still portrays her). She's got a whole thwack of insecurity and self-esteem issues that define her persona.

Ah, I disagree; having a character suffer doesn't make them deeper, it just means they've suffered and remained shallow.
