A less than unhealthy obsession.
Sep. 27th, 2005 11:34 pmAs you may or may not know, I enjoy the wearing of a good luau shirt. Not the "stitch something together out of a wacky fabric" you get at your average SF con.
No, I likes 'em traditional. Images of the islands on silk, preferably, although cotton will do nicely. The best place to get them around here is at a second hand shop, a Value Village or Phase 2.
Once time, at SDCC, Cynra & I stumbled on a shirt that sold only high end luau shirts. It was my own pesonal Breakfast at Tiffany's, but with the scent of roasted pork.
Now, I didn't end up BUYING any because, well, at SDCC, there's ALWAYS stuff to buy (like slightly dented graphic novels at $5 a pound! No, I'm serious. I should have got From Hell), so I didn't have the $75 US they were asking for them (and this was Clinton era, when the dollar was still strong). But, God, I could have broken a dozen credit cards in there.
Sweet luau shirts. I love them so.
And pimp hats.
