Busy week, then.

Monday was relatively quiet, I think. I guess I must have played some xbox or something. I remember getting home late, or at least starting dinner late.

Wait. Raw & Bachelor's delight. That's it.

Tuesday night, of course, was the main event, Smackdown! live from the Air Canada centre. Met up with the guys regarding GX, and a 15 minute meeting turned into an hour and a half one. Missed dinner, had to park at ACC, so that parking & buying food almost doubled the cost of the event. (Cynra asked "How much did the Smackdown cost?" to which I replied "Significantly less than a trip to England, dear.").

It was enjoyable. Taken in with [livejournal.com profile] noizangel, Creighton & a guy named Matt (who was NOT a member of the NGO). I wore my Randy Orton shirt, even though I was cheering for his opponent. Velocity was interesting. We cheered for George of the the (hometown) jobbers against Chris Anderson/Kennedy/Gimmick to be named later.

Stilliam Regal came out to tell us how evil he was, which he proved by beating up Scotty 2 Hotty. Dude, you wanna be evil, beat up someone the crowd DOESN'T think is a douchebag.

Smackdown itself was varying degrees of "Hey, is there a PPV this weekend?" Eddie Guerrero did a really good promo for his match against Rey Mysterio. The lighting was very good, and, no, I'm not being sarcastic.

The angle suffers a lot if you apply any human brain sweat to it (take it out of Wrestleworld and you realize that most custody issues don't get resolved by a ladder match, and Dominick looks a LOT like his parents; well, his mom, anyway, since Rey is a luchador and wears a face concealing mask), but these guys are troopers in any case.

MLM wrestled Booker T & Mrs. T. Having missed much Smackdown since, well, the last time I saw it, I was somewhat nonplussed at the sight of Facial Growth Lass. Milena's ring entrance was, of course, a religious experience. Sharmel was apparently an actual wrestler, and acquited herself adequately.

Rey wrestled Simon Dean, who made some good lines about giving him a family set of the Simon System, half off (Hah! Rey's lost his son, who's short, so he gets half off! That's comedy gold!*). It ended in a 619, which doesn't look as staged as you'd think.

Christian was dusted off and brought out to be... er.. dusted off by the Mexicools. He was drawing face heat like no one this side of the Hogansphere, so of course they squashed him. You know, the whole "Juan Deere" thing just ain't as funny up here since we don't have Mexicans (or at least, we don't have Mexicans in the same way). They should have had him attacked by French guys. Do they still have the French guys? Americans still hate the French, right?

Randy Orton wrestled Chris Benoit and Batista and JBL wrestled in a 'Toronto Street Fight' (which I presume means that the street is tidy and they're polite while they do it). There was a tag team Orton/JBL vs Batista/Taker match after the cameras went off. The crowd popped when UT did the rope walk, which was admittedly kind of cool.

Afterwards, we all sang happy birthday to Tony Schimmel while Batista poured Gatorade on him. Then he gave him a stink face. Ah, locker room camraderie!

Unfortunately, of course, we missed out on the scintilating commentary of Tazz & ShutUpCole, but we assumed they were just talking about the PPV anyway. I offered my own commentary, but don't remember any of it. Some lobotomy outpatient behind us kept yelling "Wrestling's fake!" Yeah, very lucid observation there, Einstein. So I just shouted back "No it isn't! Santa told me so!"

Last night was Annie Get Your Gun with [livejournal.com profile] redeem147. I enjoyed it a bit more than she did, because I lack the savageness that comes with experience in community theatre.

Billy Ray Cyrus had apparently attracted his fan club to the venue; a limo (no longhorns on the hood, though) disgorged a bevy of ladies looking like they were headed to a hoe down. Hats and all.

We were seated next to the Elisse Pitre fan club. She did a very good job, and had a neck like you'd expect from a veteran of musical theatre, corded and powerful. Good show. I finally get to see a production, darnit.

TOday was supposed to be Sweeny Todd, but, Jesus, I'm too darn tired.

The French guys (La Resistance) are split up. Granier is on Smackdown!, though I've not seen him on the show since the trade, so I imagine he's relegated to Velocity duty? Dupree and Conway are on RAW, and Conway's given up the French Sympathiser gimmick.

Actually, I kinda think I like the Con Way gimmick. It's not the coolest, it's not the best, and it's certainly not incredible, but it's kinda fun in a corny cheese-ball way. It's like The Blue Meanie. It just is fun.

As for being imitations of The Rougeau Brothers, completely in agreement. They wanna be The Rougeaus, or my fave French-Canadian-Asshole team, The Quebecers!

We're not The Mounties...

But, yes, Americans still hate French.

Hey! I loved it!

I just thought it would have been nice to see the leading male's eyes for more than 1/10 of the show.

Don't forget - Sitting Bull!! Sitting Bull!!!

Buffalo Bill wore a hat. I could see Buffalo Bill.

I like teasing the Billy Ray fans. I did love the show.

What, I can't be thebittergirl?

I remember I had to pay something like $48 American for Smackdown seats when they rolled through Cola Town, and I certainly wouldn't do that so I could sit and yell it's fake.

Of possibly relevant interest, the Comic Images WWE RPG came out, Know Your Role - and a friend and I promptly made two wrestlers to duke it out (the Japanese/Mexican El Tsunami who only wrestles in no DQ-matches and former Marshall The Hangin' Judge). We had more fun describing what the wrestlers did than the actual game, since OGL isn't really a good system for something cinematic (not that this is a suprise).

As a fun side project, only a few wrestlers they gave stats for are no longer with the company. Also, amusingly, the name Michael Cole is trademarked, or is in the book.

Okay, that was pretty funny.
