Once again, I've never seen TNA. I don't know if we get TNA in this country.

But I just marked out hard. The link is to TNA's Team Canada.

I love that logo.

Shout out to [livejournal.com profile] twillits for the heads up.

God, I would KILL to be able to wear their T-Shirt to Smackdown this week.

In other wrestling news, I'm upset. UWA has Darkstone wrestling Josh Prohibition for the UWA Canadian title on the 26th. Which means I can't go because of the Expo. Feh.

Hey, you can't call them The Redneck Network any more. That hasn't been applicable since they got rid of ECW in favour of WWE. ;)

With it being the "huntin' fishin' and car repair!" channel, it still applies.

As far as ECW... TNN contributed to the federation's demise. You don't want me to get started on what idiots they were for that...

Even WWE has gone further down the crapper in quality ever since they moved there as well.

I'm pretty sure they don't do any hunting and fishing shows. And the car shows aren't exactly redneck-only. Yes, there are truck shows, but there's also sports car shows and the like - there was an urban car show for a while, dunno if it's still aired.

I agree with you 100%, but let's be honest, I'm sure McMahon was behind that, no matter the "I loaned half a million to ECW" line he's touting now.

As for WWE going down, I don't think that has anything to do with being on Spike vs USA Networks.

One of the things Rick Scaia of Online Onslaught and others have ragged on TNA for is their heavy use of NASCAR and country singers... then call these things "redneck fodder". As far as the 'huntin' and fishin' on TNN/Spike, I still see those listed on the channel often.

Vince was a cash loaner to ECW for quite awhile, actually. It wasn't just some line he touts now. Heyman did offer him booking advice for some time before Vince hired him, all the way back to when ECW pulled a surprise showing on RAW during the Monday Night Wars. Paul had a strong hand in the Attitude Era...

If WWE programming improves once they go back to USA my theory might not be so off...

The NASCAR/country stuff hasn't happened for some time, now.

And what this has to do with the conversation, since they're not part of Spike yet, I don't see.

As for the vince thing... well, I didn't say it didn't happen, I said that I believed Vince had a little (or a lot) to do with ECW being screwed. B/c you don't think TNN just screwed ECW and Vince was powerless to it happening? No, I think not. Even if he didn't WANT it to happen, which I doubt, he ALLOWED it to happen.

So, the fact that RAW is on Spike also explains the quality on Smackdown!, too? Interesting.

What the car thing has to do with my "redneck" bit was that they are still viewed as redneck stuff.

UPN and Spike are both owned by parent company Viacom, which is why they're both leaving. That's the link.

I was contesting the TNA-NASCAR link, when TNA was not part of the Spike Universe (and really isn't, yet) during any of the times that there has been a NASCAR tie-in to TNA.

As for the other... well, so, now you're saying that being involved with Viacom is the problem in teh quality of programming? But that doesn't make sense, since Smackdown has been on UPN for five years, but earlier you claimed that moving RAW to Spike was the source of it going downhill...

So which is it?

I don't, so I went here, just to see if there was any validity to that statement: http://www.spiketv.com/schedule/schedule.jhtml

Lots of car shows, most of them non-rednecky, though. No huntin' and fishin'.

Just sayin'.

Without any demographics, ratings or the like in front of me I can only speculate, but I'm sure the Frat Boy Network is a more viable business model than the Redneck Network.
