Gaming News: Decipher gone?
Aug. 13th, 2005 11:01 amWell, not gone yet, but everything points to bad news from the card mavens of the East Coast. This OgreCave article links to a piece in Inside Business (a more permanent link to the article on a blog) that indicates Decipher has sold its buildings, laid off 50 people this year, and is in arrears for tournament payments (several fans are going to be suing them for thousands in tournament winnings).
It also appears they're starting legal action against their former CFO.
On the other side, CEO Warren Holland is still optimistic, and notes that they have more staff today than they did when they launched the Star Trek & Star Wars CCGs. I wonder if that is solely salaried employees, or freelancers and volunteers too?
