For those of you who were geeks who lived in Ontario in the late '80s, early '90s, you'll have fond memories of Prisoners of Gravity.
The show, hosted by [livejournal.com profile] the_frantics survivor Rick Green and created by one of Mordecai's kids and Alan Moore's #2 fan, Mark Askwith,(and what a great picture THAT is) covered SF and comics in a way that was unique.

The show was about a guy who, fleeing turmoil on Earth, crashes his space car into an orbiting space station where, to pass the time, he interviews SF authors. Well, of course.

It was great. Authors got interviewed in these big hunks, which would be split down into various themes. It was also my introduction to the ethereal loveliness of Canada's Luminous Angel of Dark Fantasy, Tanya Huff. And the story of defying wardrobe expectations is nice.

There are also sequences with Canada's only yadda, yadda, yadda as well as the Gar & Judy "we can make Trek not suck" Reeves Stevenses, Spider "lemme play ya a song!" Robinson, and a cavalcade of various other writer types.

I think it came poorly timed for me. I was listening, but I don't know if I was hearing what it had to say too well. Or perhaps I'm just a simple guy.

All I know is it was a delight, and I miss it. The website is great.

I miss it, too, even though I didn't watch it enough at the time. :(

They do have a short segment on Space called Shelf Space which runs just before the hour but only occasionally.

I have a videotape with a boatload of episodes. I never got to see the show "live" either, so the tape helped.

Rick was a guest at several conventions I went to almost 10 years ago now. The ratio of POG questions was much higher than the Rick Green ones.

It also got aired on WXON out of Detroit, Channel 20. I remember Larry Niven mentioning "the Chaosium" in his interview.
