Meatloaf!

Recently, one of the guys in my D&D group (which hasn't played in a year, but we still have a mailing list, so we're still strong) started his own blog. It's dedicated to meatloaf.

Personally, meatloaf is a fairly exotic dish to me. My mom never made one, having a full platter of ethnic food to serve our little bunch.

Add that to a wife who can't stand the stuff, and you realize that I view the 'loaf as something to be sought out and savoured on those rare occasions when I can get it. Diner meatloaf? Well slap my man-teats and call me shirley, but that makes me happy.

So, yes. Visit I Love Meatloaf. Do it now!

Mmm, meatloaf. I love the stuff, especially with mashed taters and melted cheddar on top. :D

Do you prefer Bat out of Hell or his work on Rocky Horror?

Mmm, yummy! I never got meatloaf as a child (my mom was more of a meatball gal), but I did find a great recipe which tastes delicious, courtesy of Taco the Octopus (http://www.8legged.com/Recipes/RecipeMeatloaf.html). I used all beef, and loved it :)

My dad was a very fussy eater, so we didn't have a huge variety of foods, really, except for when he was out of town.

Meatloaf was a pretty regular dish.

But I love it. My mom makes the best meatloaf in the world. I got the recipe for my ex-wife to make for me, and it wasn't very good. But if my mom makes it, it rocks.

And I'm not one of those my-mom-can-do-no-wrong types, either. Far from it.

Hiho,

My mother also never made meatloaf. I still remember the first time I had it - an aunt made it for a picnic we went on, and I was enchanted. Didn't have it for years afterwards until I moved out on my own and bought a frozen one to try. It is now a favourite.

Cu,
Andrew

We ate all manner of meat dishes cooked largely by my Scottish grandmother, but ground beef usually wound up as burgers, stovies, and mince and tatties. These days, I use ground beef for pasta sauces, mostly. So I, too, am fascinated by meatloaf (and lasagna, and variations on shepherd's pie/pastitsio/moussaka). Yum.

So, when are we gonna have a salsa showdown, eh? ;D

Hmmmm, food and your man-teats in the same thought. Now that's disturbing. LOL
