First off, for Firefly fans only: separated at birth? And an info gathering thingy about direct to DVD stuff.

The Direct to DVD thing is a good idea, but confusing. At this point, there's a stigma attached to D2D media that is probably a decade from going anywhere.

As well, got a wedding invite for one of my old J-school friends. Not a shock (he'd told me he'd proposed and such; I was just assuming I might not get invited), but it got me thinking of weddings and marriages, of all my friends who are together and those who are no longer (it's probably comforting that the majority are still together).

Then, I thought, Jesus. Can you imagine how ugly a divorce might be if viewed through the lens of hideousness that is LJ? If two people, both of whom are regular users of this little website, decided that they didn't have the time for each other? We (or at least I) tend to be willing to dump the smallest details of our daily lives in here. Imagine an acrimonious separation?

Man.

Of course, at this point, someone will have found a link to exactly such an event. In which case, I thank you.

I had considered that, yes. I therefore try to be very careful about what goes here. No matter what, he's still my friend. I just sometimes needed a place to vent, and I didn't have anyone closer at hand. But yeah, I'm very conscious of what it can be like to present just one side of an event that is by no means simple or clear cut.

It would be just like the drama-fests that you'll come across in teenager/20somethings journals where "best friends" turn against each other. Quite amusing reading, taken in small doses. ;)

Fortunately, the worst thing I've found is the Over30 LJ Community... and that's just a lot of depressing moaning.

D2D is an idea I would be 50/50 on. "Direct to Video" has usually meant the product wasn't good enough for theatrical release. D2D would have that stigma to get past.

I think that D2D might work well for Firefly, if done right. I almost signed up, but will wait to see the happenings. I loved the show when it aired, and just ordered the season on DVD. I think the main factor would be the price. If they tried to do some Discovery Channel $21.99 per episode bull-hockey, then no way. If each disk of 3-4 episodes was 15-20 bucks, then maybe. That would still add up to a $100+ season, though. I prefer the $30 seasons myself, but hey, I'm cheap.
