Okay, so, yeah, Snra & I took the show in this past Tuesday. What to say?

I enjoyed it, yeah. Could have used a nice pair of glasses, as we were jammed way back in the balcony. The score was okay, but none of the songs really stuck out, and the music didn't serve to set the characters apart.

In some musicals, a piece will establish a character's musical 'hook', but there didn't seem to be that in this. The characters had their dramatic hooks setup (and shall I say that I saw the Wizard's 'revelation' coming a MILE away), but no melodic signatures seemed to be established for any characters.

Which is odd because, well, the main character has one of the most famous ones ever.

Ah, well. Enjoyable show, indeed. The costumes were well done, but I think something should have been done to differentiate the various tertiary characters. They all looked the same, except for the fat girl with the sticking up hair at Shiz.

My one quibble with the show as well was that I thought the score was a bit weak. There were a couple of places where I was waiting for it to really hit me with a sledgehammer and it didn't, really. Although there were 3 or so songs that I really liked.

I also agree about the differentiation of the background characters via their costuming/makeup (or lack thereof). I thought the performances rocked, though, and that the staging was very cool. :)

The staging was delightful, yes, and the performances were very good (we had the understudy for Elphaba, and she did a really good job; now I wish I could see her do the sister). Listening to some illegally downloaded music it is good, but I find none of it really stuck in the brain.

Not like the musical for Evil Dead, and I mean that honestly.

That is the best way to put it. I find myself better able to recall songs from Cobra: The Musical than this.

Okay, no, but C:tM was three years ago. On second listen it is enjoyable, though.
