Much Enjoying TMN on Demand
Jan. 29th, 2005 08:35 pmSnra & I have been taking advantage of The Movie Network's on Demand service lately, and enjoying it quite a bit.
Tonight, we finally got to watch Bend it Like Beckham, which manages to merge the sport movie with a romantic comedy of errors and ethnic humour (non-wacky) in a good way.
A couple weeks ago, we watched The Station Agent, which despite someone else's review, was about a guy who was a dwarf. The fact of what he was was very relevant, and not just as a side thing. It was not wacky, but very touching. The fragility of the people he came into contact with was a beautiful thing, too.
Foolproof was a Canadian Caper flick, but an interesting variant. The leads were a group of, essentially, gamers. The game was they would plan heists at real-world locations, with no intent of carrying them out. When one of their plans falls into the hands of a real-life crook, they get blackmailed into performing a heist for him.
Sure, what do you expect from a Ryan Reynolds movie produced by Atom Egoyan? We're lucky they weren't hunting genetically engineered killer beavers.
