Well, we've learned that the easiest way to water the tree (having failed to trim enough branches to leave space around the base to water with, say, a cup or something similar) is to use a turkey baster.

Wish we'd had one on Saturday when we were, oh, I don't know, basting a turkey!

Ah, well. Getting the hang of it, then.

There's a tree-watering dealie you can get from Rona, Home Depot, Cdn Tire (I think) that looks like an upside-down 1L pop bottle in a cup-shaped holder, with a siphon tube leading from it that goes into the tree stand. $8.95, as I recall.
