Well, the party went better than it had any right to be.

Shout out to all the peeps who made the show. A special tablespoon of love to [livejournal.com profile] mollpeartree for that green bean casserole recipe. Bit of a hit with all in attendance, with the exception of Snra, who likes her beans less crispy.

The tree was completely naked when the guests arrived. So, in what will surely go down in history as the greatest act of improvisation since McGuyver traded in his Swiss army knife for fatigues and bad dialogue, we turned the party from a generic "Christmas Party" to a "tree trimming party".

Act of 'effin genius, if you ask me. But who does, really?

The turkey came out good (although, once again, there was a wing down), and we had just enough stuffing/dressing to ensure that no one got enough.

Mashed Potatoes vanished right quick. I have no idea why we had Cranberry sauce, since no one uses the darn stuff.

We cycled between both rooms (the main living room and the 'sitting room' aka 'drawing room', although very little of either gets done in it). Music was provided by the delightful people at galaxie and the ghetto blaster we bought for the first Christmas party. God bless the ability to cycle between discs.

So, after the folks left, I stripped the bird so it went from food to carcass, put the meat away, and Snra went to bed. I fell asleep on the couch, and the living room got real cold, real fast.

So I was shivery for a while there.

But now I'm better.

"Current music: Solsbury Hill -- Peter Gabriel"

I have to tell you, I had the most depressing experience at work the other day. I heard a MUZAK version of Solsbury Hill.A laid back, cheesy instrumental thing. Sitting in a corporate drone office space and hearing piped crap while thinking of one of the greatest songs of awakening and joy in the world really did make me almost break down and cry.

Then I did some more typing.

*I* had cranberry sauce, which was much appreciated, thank you. Peter didn't like it because it was jellied and not whole berry (I think we've had this discussion before).

The tree trimming was wonderful. I enjoyed it (except for the prickled fingers - who gets a real tree anymore?) It was very theraputic.

Wonderful party.

I'm glad you liked the green bean casserole! I find it's pretty hit or miss with most people, and I usually end up eating all the leftovers myself because [livejournal.com profile] princeofcairo doesn't care for it (not that I'm complaining).

I might have to check out this recipe, too, if there's no objections... [livejournal.com profile] nottheterritory likes green beans, as do I. :)
