Yesterday.

Yes, I'll talk about yesterday.

The majority of the day was standard household puttering. We left in the afternoon to do some shopping (Canadian Tire for cable hooks and Sears for dungarees for Snra).

Christmas props are for sale pretty much everywhere. You must admit, the Yanks, for all their quirks, at least wait until later in the month to start the vending of December Holiday merchandise.

In any case, after we finished shopping, we went off to catch The Incredibles at the local AMC.

Dear Friends: No, I'm not going to go see anymore movies with you at a Ciniplex or Famous Players cinema. The nice people at AMC have instituted the best Customer Rewards program I'm involved with, and I'll take a movie with my wife at their theatre to a flick with y'all anywhere else.

Unless, of course, my wife says otherwise.

Yours,

The Bitter Guy

Anyway, after the flick, we motor on downtown to join the members and hangers on of

where we enjoyed delightful Chinese Food (and the most painless group check in human history), and a discussion of why there is little hope of reconciliation in the Southern Republic until the issue of States Rights is settled, since all Firefly fans are such strong believes in the concept.

Anyway, in attendance were many of The Usual Suspects, including event manager [livejournal.com profile] hazyone101, [livejournal.com profile] bnddbl07, [livejournal.com profile] hico, [livejournal.com profile] liquidize, [livejournal.com profile] redeem147 .

Karaoke was fun. The venue was good, although the Book was rather short. The organization was very interesting. It was reversible, organized by artist in one direction, song title in another. I hit the jackpot in "totally inappropriate Karaoke Videos", though.

During I will Survive, we were treated to images of a young lady learning to shoot things. Now, admittedly, not COMPLETELY unrelated to the concept of survival, at least from certain perspectives, but still a distance from the standard visual cues inspired by that tune.

But, for The Night Chicago Died, they completely lost control. While I was hollah'n along to a '70s pop epic about Al Capone's takeover of Chicago, we were treated to visuals of... Venezuelan cliff divers.

Dude, that TOTALLY gets a big 'ol WTF? I mean, pictures of Chicago, sure! Hell, paste in a few shots of Al Capone and B&W pictures of cops arresting mobsters and shit, sure. But VENEZUELAN CLIFF DIVERS?

The mind! It boggles!

Feh.

Overall, fun. My standards (notably Baby Got Back, Walk This Way) were absent from the book, but I still had a good time.

I swear I keep breaking out laughing at the most inapproapriate times suddenly having an image of you standing up on that karaoke stage asking "WTF is up with these videos?"
