Uniqueness, AGAIN
Oct. 15th, 2004 11:54 pmName a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has: Aha! Surely, none of you has been to a resort on the Red Sea! The Egyptian side!
Come ON, here, people! I'm not that fricking well travelled!
Newcastle, Australia! How about THAT?

Date: 2004-10-16 05:05 am (UTC)I keep meaning to tell you, there's a restaurant in downtown Hamilton that specializes in Mediterranean and Egyptian cuisine. I've eaten there numerous times and it's lovely. Just a small place, very intimate, dare I say romantic. It's called Dalina and it's located at 49 King William Street, just east of James Street North.
Menu selections that might peak your interest are as follows (oh and I found menus in my mail room when I got home so this is in my mind but I wish in my tummy). I have no idea if all of these specific items are Egyptian but they sound yummy:
Gamberi: Sauteed black tiger shrimp and red peppers, finished in a Sambuca cream sauce.
Boriac: Lovingly handrolled fillo stuffed with a delicious blend of ricotta, feta, scallions and a mix of special herbs.
Chicken Nefirtiti: A delicate shell of fillo pastry filled with morsels of tender chicken, vegetables and some rare spices.
Arnab: Indulge yourself in an affair with the senses. Seared leg of rabbit enraptured by the refinement and elegance of mystique and cardamom. The essence of Egyptian extravagance.
Foole Mudames: Egypt's National Dish. For unsurpassed taste, try our fava beans garnished with tomatoes, parsley, a touch of olive oil, cumin, lemon and garlic.
Camounaya: Capture the aroma of Egyptian spices in this dish. A delightful combination of herbs and spices, sauteed chicken, mushrooms and fennel. Finished with an Anise flambee.
Kosheri: A unique blend of green lentils and rice topped by a crispy julienne of golden onions.
Plus a selection of other wonderful taste sensations. Just thought I'd pass this along.
