The pope on Dubya and The Weekend So Far
Jun. 12th, 2004 05:59 pmReally, it's a valid concern.
Today in alternate history.
Had an enjoyable weekend. Spent Friday & Saturday night at a B&Bin North Gower. Good grub, comfy bed.
The weekend was primarily oriented around attending the wedding of Elisabeth, an old friend. The wedding was wonderful. There's nothing like seeing someone else getting hitched to make you remember why you took your vows. It's like a tune-up for a marriage.
We hadn't picked up a gift yet, so we went off to the St. Laurent mall to pick up something. Foolish us.
The actual list was either A) completed or B) no longer in stock. So we ended up getting them something that was LIKE part of their list, but not exactly what they wanted.
The reception was held under a tent in the backyard of the bride's parents house, with a nice buffet.
The bride's family is half Egyptian and half French, fulfilling the duty of all immigrants to marry into one of the founding races. Huzzah! I did come to realize my French, while almost serviceable, needs improvement, particularly in the area of vocabulary. Anyone know of a good French Word of the Day list, prefereably for anglophones?
I'm currently on Dr's orders to avoid alcohol, so I did a very good job of not drinking any at the reception.
Unfortuately, after dinner Snra & I went to Ottawa to hook up with her old friend Janet. We met at a Mexicali Rosas for chicken nachos (although the ladies reactions when I suggested it made me think they'd never had them before; ah, well, they were good).
The MR's cover still listed their Cinquo de Mayo drinks, and included a green apple margarita. Well, out of my brain slipped the medical order, and into mah belly slipped an ounce and a half of tequila.
Whoops.
Hopefully it's not THAT big an issue.
Home today, then. Too late for the game at
pyat's.
