And the Spring one started on Friday, I guess.

Anyway, since Cynra & I have just printed out our registrations for Toronto Trek (how 20th century of us!) I was reminded of the Con Anti-Harassment Projectthat started last year.

Not by anything on the Toronto Trek website, mind you. It just popped into my head.

I'm working diligently to get a suitable policy enacted at FanExpo for '09. Wish me luck. It does appear that the Ad Astra page doesn't seem to have anything listed about it; I only noticed this because the CAHP has it listed as the first con. The perils of alphabetization, I guess. The website continues to be somewhat irritating. Is that giant graphic in the back totally necessary? I need to dig out my layout and design books to figure out what really irritates me about it.

Toronto Trek is also lacking an outlined policy, but I suppose that sort of thing has to go through committee after committee. I'm sure someone on ConCom is hard at work on it.

Anime North has the standard "Tis Better to Get Permission than Ask Forgiveness" policy WRT Glomping, and asks you to

Have fun, enjoy yourself, be courteous to hotel staff and fellow attendees but please remember, the impression you make reflects on all of us.

Which I suppose would be sufficient.

I also checked out the Open Source Women Back Each Other Up Project (And Gentleman's Auxilliary),and looked at their LJ community [livejournal.com profile] backupproject. The LJ comm is fairly quiet (con season's a-comin', kids!), although I do notice that "Operation boob grope" is coming up on its one year anniversary. I plan to hold a party. There may be a pinata.

Anyway, March break is almost over. Back to work tomorrow. Thankfully it's a short week, as I'm off Thursday for a doctor's appointment. Huzzah!

Just got an update for Dicenomicon. Included in a bunch of blah blah (hey, copy & paste. That's kind of nifty) is that they have added sounds.

I believe it is now perfect.

There's a Thread on RPG.net about walking away from a game at a con.

I have walked away from three games in my life.

The first was a Star Wars game which started off... poorly. The GM had no control over the game, to such an extent that he let the players bring their own PCs, and didn't bother to look at them, which was a bad idea. One of them was playing LOBO, for God's sake.

The second was a Champions game at GenCon. The GM gave out PCs with gadget pools, but no sample gadgets, and seemed to be more interested in doing sketches than running the game, and had no materials with him. [livejournal.com profile] mr_weasel faked a phone call from his wife and we ditched.

The last time was a Wraith: The Great War game at GenCon where we spend two hours of the slot in a dogfight, with no end in sight. I did with Best Roleplayer in that game, because I spent it doing a bad Irish accent (and would like to apologize to the people of Ireland). I left to participate in the Austin Powers CCG World Championship. Apparently someone eventually got shot down and had a Harrowing, so that seemed to be the goal of the adventure.

Each time, the fun value was seriously depleted at various points in the game. The GM either lacked control or pacing or both.

  • 15:27 Another benefit of Dicenomicon: "Roll 8d4" is not nearly as annoying as it could be. #

I still have that dream quite frequently. Gotta love the capriciousness of the subconscious.

Portia De Rossi apologizes for the pain her marriage has caused.

Via Antonia Z's Blog.

Between her being moved to Wimmen's issues and the death of Frank, I am starved for media dirt.
