It occurred to me today, as I went through this week's pickup, that my comics reading seems to be going in a certain direction.

Primarily, it's author driven (picking up some Ellis, Busiek, Laws & a little more Moore), but it's also 'suburban superhero'.

Two books I'm reading semi regularly (they're bi-monthly, IIRC) are The Crossovers and Invincible. They're both semi-straight Superhero comics (althoug The Crossovers has elements of Horror, fantasy & Sci Fi in it), but they both deal primarily with family issues.

Invincible is about a second generation Superhero, whose father was an alien who entered self imposed exile on Earth cause, gosh darnit, he just loves the place. Interesting story, almost Astro City-esque in the strength of its existing world.

The Crossovers is about a family where the father is a superhero, the mother fights vampires, the son is conspiring with alien invaders, and the daughter is secretly a princess in a fantasy world fighting to overthrow an evil empress. It's a bit of a farce (and I mean that in a style sense, not in any derogatory manner), with lots of mis-understandings.

It's been optioned as a tv show, which is good, and I think it would work well in the medium. Overall, it's very amusing, and the individual stories continue to rock. The finale in issue #6 was good, too. I don't know how long they'll continue it, or how long they'll do wacky mis-understandings, but I like it for now.

Both of them have good character bits, although the Crossovers does play a bit more for comedy.

Astro City: Still rocking. The cover declares "Our Eighth year!", which would mean more if it didn't publish seasonaly.

Picked up 3 boxes of Cosmic Justice this week (the ONLY THREE I COULD FIND. No, seriously. No more exist in the GTA). Pulled two uniques (Brother Blood & Eclipso), and all three Easy Co figs (Sgt Rock (r), Easy Soldier (r), Easy Medic (v), Zatanna, Green Arrow, StarJack, and a few others.

AND I WAS JUST KIDDING ABOUT THE KEN HITE THING. Jesus, people. Stop throwing raw meat at my door, already.
