Delightful day w/ Snra Bitter yesterday. Went to Taste of the County at Picton's Crystal Palace yesterday.

You know, looking through Picton'swebiste I get that strange nostalgic yearning for living in a small town.

Anyway, it was $10 admission, and $.50 a ticket for food. Food costs between 1-6 tickets. You got a wine glass with admission.

It seemed a bit oddly organized. I don't think they knew there'd be queues for some things (like, say, beer), so some booths would be completely invisible behind lines for items at the next booth.

Had some good ribs, and a lamb roti with banana-cider chutney. Lots of lamb there, actually. There was the Garlic King of Canada in attendance.

Also attended the booth for Rivendell herbs. Proved, at last, that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

So when we were done, we took a trip to Noted Ontario AttractionLake on the Mountain.

I never realized before how Lovecraftian that place is. A mysterious lake, up on a mountain, with no source, and natives making sacrifices? Summat's napping down there.

Grabbed the Glenora Ferry back home, and we stopped off at the Napanee Museum for a few minutes before closing time. The place has really gotten bigger since I was a wee one. Gives you a much better sense of the history of the town. Apparently during the 19th Century there was a fair bit of industry, ranging from glassmakers to manufacturers of Egyptian Linament.

Which is odd, because I don't recall any Egyptians living here pre 1972.

Home for dinner. A lot of sitting around not doing anything. Missed the window to see Kill Bill, but we did take a movie run to Video 99 (Is 9 lucky in any cultures?) to pick up The Italian Job and Route 666(starring Lou Diamond Philips!) which we have not yet watched. Hope springs eternal.

(side note: Na, it was pretty bad. A gamer movie, possibly, but few redeeming qualities otherwise)

Feh. Bacon cooking. My mother shovels more dirt onto my coffin. Ah, well.

In other news, how should you react when someone you dislike intensely is ill? I'm, of course, saddened at the fact that a human being is in pain, and I wish him no PHYSICAL harm, but I struggle to keep any Schadenfreude from surfacing.
