In our continual quest for simple victuals and quiet relaxation, Snra. Bitter and I absconded to our favourite Pub-chise, The and Firkin (I can't remember the frickin' name, really).
El Snra had her standard (penne n' chicken with a rose sauce), while I jumped onto a limb to try a Bison Burger.
I had Beefalo a few years ago (okay, 11. Shit.), and don't recall too much about it, so I figured I'd try it.
It came with waffle fries (about the standard there), and the burger was cheesed with pickle, red onion n' tomato, which is a good variety if you're not trying to taste the meat, but not if you are trying something 'different'.
I haven't had any sort of 'wild' meat before (I don't know how wild the bison this came from would be, but I'm gonna presume it's at least only a few generations into domestication), which I'm rather ashamed of. I should go out and snag me some deer before I become an American or something.
Anyway, the burger did have an interesting taste, not quite as sweet as normal beef would be; don't know if that's a matter of growth hormones, game-y-ness, or what, but it was different. There was also a slightly bitter aftertaste that I didn't really like.
To worsen the weekend, we ended up being there for the 7 p.m. CFL trivia game. Paint ME fuckin' enthused.
JLA/Avengers continues to delight. But only 4 48 page issues? That will not do. That's the same as 6 32 page issues. Not at all acceptable.
We kidnap Busiek & Perez to produce ANOTHER 4 issues.
Toronto's hosting a comic convention in a few weeks. What we'll do is make sure they're 'invited' (even if the convention doesn't know. In fact, that's the best way. Deniability.
Then, we steal one of the limos from the limo shop, and hide it at a specially prepared garage. We'll have to re-paint & re-plate it and install some special modifications.
Kurt & George land at YYZ, and get into the limo. The driver activates the knock-out gas in the back seat. I will have nose-plugs in.
Now, we drive them to an isolated garage (not the same one we made the mods at), where we'll switch them to an Ambulance. This will prevent problems with authorities (it should keep us from being stopped, and if we ARE, we can claim we're transporting them to a long term care facility).
They'll be kept at a special cabin in Northern Ontario, where they'll be working on the project. Freed of other distractions, they can complete the job!
They'll be well taken care of, mind you. Unless they try to escape, in which case, well, we have sledgehammers.
And while they're up there, we'll see if we can't get a few issues of Astro City in the can while we're at it.
Excellent. Of course, all this is just a dry run to prepf or killing James Bond and taking over the world.

Date: 2003-09-07 11:53 am (UTC)Sounds very much like the game I've had the opportunity to consume. Moose definitely, deer closely, reindeer to a bit lesser degree but it is there... Memory of hare is faint; too many years.
I don't think it is so much a matter of growth hormones, but simply the domestication, more nutritious feed, and faster growth: the beef cattle retain a number of juvenile features.
