So I'm surfin' LJ and I found This link in someone's LJ.

I decided to just click over to take a look. It was, as advertised, some sort of day camp for the hyper-masculinized.

But my favourite bit was this part on the What You Get page.

# A Ninja suit and assorted Ninja weapons.

Oh, man. I feel the craziness washing off them.

The picture on the front page is the best.

A Ninja-to in one hand, a bottle of tequila in the other, and your friends around you. Where do I sign up?.

Yeah, this is sort of like what I've been trying to organize, except nobody is responding to my e-mails.

Soldier of Fortune magazine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldier_of_Fortune_(magazine)) is, I believe, the preferred distraction...

Actually I couldn't remember what the hell the names of the two REAL magazines was until a couple of hours ago. Still can't for the martial arts one...

I believe that, at the height of the "ninja craze", there were several Ninja-esque magazines, including Spirit of Ninja, Ninja the Deadly Warrior, and Ninja.

If nothing else, writing this response allowed me to use the term "Ninja-esque".

I own a copy of "Ashida Kim"'s Secrets of the Ninja (http://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Ninja-Ashida-Kim/dp/0806508663).

It is seriously one of the funniest books I have ever read -- we used to have folks in stitches reading passages aloud from it, or demonstrating the "Ninja Evasion Technique" which directs you, if it fails, to quietly slay your discoverer with lightning speed. This, it notes, must be practised.

See also such amusing tips as "Fig 86. Hiding in a barrel."

We were just talking about The Tick today at Gamers' Breakfast. The comic was so awesome. As were the ninjas, of course.
