Sitting on the loveseat in the sitting room, hoping that the muscle relaxants kick in and the spasms in my back subside long enough for me tho get sons sleep.

It isn't very intense pain, but it falls on me like waves. There's no position where it will stop. The remedy suggested by the telehealth nurse, lying on my side and applying a cold pack, proved useless.

Vodka. I'm just saying.

Seriously. Some years ago I had a messed-up neck - a major "crick", couldn't properly move my neck for a week. I probably should have gone to a doctor, but I didn't. Anyway, I went to a party at my sister's place, where my brother-in-law gave me a large container of a 50-50 rum/pineapple juice mixture. I drank the whole thing, didn't get even the slightest buzz, but it was like all the alcohol went right to the tension and just completely vaporized it.

So, yeah, alcohol.

So-called muscle relaxants are misnomers.

I'd try OTC long acting Acetaminophen or NSAIDs instead.

P.S. Get well soon.

Try heat on your back. I usually lie flat with just my neck supported and a pillow under my knees with a heating pad on low under me.
And alternate between Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen -- so 2 Ace. then two hours later 2 IB, then 2 hours later 2 Ace. etc.
Also, have someone pick you up ActiveOn. It helps me with spasms and pain.

Yah, that. When my back is shitty, heatpad on VERY HIGH + not moving + painkillers provides temporary relief.

Yup - No mess, no fuss, which is why I tried it. It's not a miracle cure but it helps.
If you have no aversions to codeine you can get 222's or T2's over the counter. If aspirin is helping the 222's might do you well.

Hope its better soon - Having now had FM officially for 6 years I feel for anyone with back issues. They can be completely and utterly debilitating.

*gentle hug*

No problem -- I just hope this goes away quickly hon!

Nope.. No Cangames for me. The only gaming I've ever really done is the WW thing, the rest doesn't really interest me all that much. Although if I am up, pain/ exhaustion wise, for it I may go just to check out vendors :)

NO HEAT JUSTIN!!!

right now, if there's spasming, there's active inflammation there, and you cannot put heat on there. it *may* provide temporary relief (literally just while it's on) but it can increase the spasming, thus increasing pain. telehealth is right right now, cold pack is the best option until the spasming subsides, just to control the inflammation (it's not really a remedy for the pain, just the inflammation). at this point there's really not much that can be done for spasms except rest. once the acute spasming has subsided, try to come in and see me.
